Angew. Chem. Int. Ed Publishes ECUST Latest Progress of ion transmembrane transport by optical drive molecular motor

Recently, Professor Bao Chunyan and Professor Qu Dahui from the School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, ECUST cooperated to simulate the structure and function of natural transporters by using light-driven molecular motors, which realized efficient, light-controllable, potassium ion-selective transmembrane transport, and realized cancer cell selectivity, which could caspase caspase-dependent apoptosis by promoting the rapid outflow of K+ in cancer cells. The related achievements were published in Angewandte Chemie International edition under the title of “A Light-Driven Molecular MachineControls K+ Channel Transport and Induces Cancer Cell Apoptosis”.

The thesis was completed by Yang Huiting, Ph.D. students of the Feringa Nobel Prize Joint Research Center for Scientists, and Yi Jinhao, a master's degree student, under the joint guidance of Professor Bao Chunyan and Professor Qu Dahui. A large number of theoretical calculations were completed by the team where the special researcher was trained, and received the strong support and careful guidance of Academician Tian He, Professor Zhu Linyong and Professor Yang Yi. The research results are supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Shanghai Science and Technology Major Project and the "111 Plan".
